CAD Designer | Actalent

The Tone:
This is a contract role at Actalent, located in Nashville, TN. Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services, providing specialized experts to help visionary companies advance their initiatives and drive scale, innovation, and speed to market. This CAD Designer role is crucial for detailing complex piping system designs, upgrading existing 2D drawings to comprehensive 3D models, and preparing detailed documentation for production, directly supporting Actalent’s mission to deliver precise engineering solutions for its clients.

• Team: Close-knit team of four designers and a Design Supervisor
• Mission: Responsible for transforming 2D designs into detailed 3D models and production drawings for complex piping, structural, and hull systems.
• Tech Stack: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), 3D software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Detail: Detail piping system designs using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
• Upgrade: Upgrade 2D drawings to 3D models in accordance with company standards.
• Model: Create detailed 3D models for piping, structural, or hull designs.
• Produce: Create and update construction and shop drawings and bills for production.
• Revise: Revise linework, references, notes, and callouts based on redline markups.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A background in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering degree is preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in CAD is preferred, or a 4-year degree in Engineering with a focus on design. Experience in CAD layout, piping systems, and large industrial layouts.
• Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and similar CAD software; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft products; ability to read and understand structural documentation such as blueprints.
• Bonus: Experience with AutoCAD 2023 and 3D software; capability to complete high-paced assignments through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning, and execution.
