Graduate Intern for Women’s Basketball | Regis College
The Tone:
This is a 10-month graduate internship at Regis College, located in Weston, MA. Regis College provides a comprehensive academic and athletic environment, fostering student development and competitive excellence. This role is crucial for providing extensive support to the Women’s Basketball Program, contributing directly to the team’s operations, player development, and the overall success of the athletic department. The intern’s contribution ensures the program maintains compliance and delivers a high-quality experience for student-athletes.

• Mission: To provide comprehensive operational and coaching support for the Women’s Basketball Program while contributing to broader athletic department functions and ensuring student-athlete compliance and success.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Coaching & Program Support: Assist the Head Coach in the overall organization and administration of the competitive basketball program, requiring consistent attendance at all team practices and games for direct involvement.
• Recruitment & Player Development: Actively support the Head Coach in identifying, contacting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes, while also providing essential assistance with video editing and exchange needs for scouting, game analysis, and player development strategies.
• Team Operations & Fundraising: Coordinate and facilitate community service projects for team members, ensuring alignment with NCAA, Regis Athletic Department, and College missions, and contribute to fundraising initiatives for non-budgeted program expenses.
• Compliance & Academic Oversight: Demonstrate a thorough understanding and strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing collegiate sport competition as established by Regis College and relevant athletic conferences (GNAC, ECAC, NCAA Division III), and aid in implementing team-specific academic enrichment programming.
• Athletic Event Management: Serve as an active member of the Department of Athletics Events Operations Team, attending regular weekly meetings and assisting with the setup, staffing, breakdown, and logistical coordination of intercollegiate competitions and other campus events.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree is required, along with current admission to one of Regis College’s graduate programs, for an early career role supporting collegiate women’s basketball.
• Experience: Prior successful playing or coaching experience at the college level is preferred; significant successful high school or club experience will be considered as a valuable alternative.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication, computer literacy, strong interpersonal skills for diverse college constituencies, proven problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work a flexible and irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends. This also includes the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member.
• Certifications & Licenses: A valid driver’s license is required, and appropriate First Aid/CPR and AED certifications must be obtained within an appropriate time of hire and prior to the beginning of the competitive season.
• Bonus: Previous experience specifically in athletics beyond playing or coaching, a positive attitude, and an understanding of the importance of being open-minded and flexible to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
