REGISTERED NURSE I (College of Nursing and Allied Health Graduate) | County of Los Angeles

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the County of Los Angeles, located in Los Angeles County, CA. The Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation, operating an integrated network of 25 health centers and four acute care hospitals. DHS serves approximately 600,000 unique patients each year. This Registered Nurse I position is crucial for delivering professional nursing care and services across various settings, directly contributing to the DHS mission of advancing patient and community health through extraordinary care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Care Delivery: Provide individualized and specialized nursing care, administering medications and treatments to patients as prescribed, within their scope of practice and established policies.
• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive and ongoing patient assessments, observing physical conditions and reviewing all available information to identify patient needs and risks.
• Care Planning: Formulate and modify nursing care plans based on patient assessments, establishing goals and coordinating care as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team.
• Intervention & Evaluation: Observe patient responses to interventions and treatments, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status and communicating effects to the healthcare team.
• Documentation & Collaboration: Complete and maintain accurate, legible documentation and records in a timely manner, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and co-workers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from the Nursing program of the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health (CONAH) with foundational knowledge in professional nursing care.
• Experience: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program certification issued by the American Heart Association and an active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in California.
• Skills: Professional nursing care, patient assessment and care planning, medication and treatment administration, accurate documentation, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
• Bonus: Experience in documenting in an electronic health/medical record (EHR/EMR) system, experience in intravenous (IV) insertion, and experience with blood-draw (phlebotomy).
