The Tone:
This is a full-time Graduate Nurse role at Hartford HealthCare, located at St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center in Westport, CT. Hartford HealthCare is Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network, with over 40,000 employees dedicated to patient care. St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center provides specialized inpatient psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. This role is crucial for providing essential nursing care under supervision to patients while the Graduate Nurse awaits full Registered Nurse licensure.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to the Unit Manager
• Mission: To provide holistic, quality, and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others within a specific patient population, while practicing under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse pending licensure.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Temporary Practice: Provide temporary nursing practice for a period not to exceed 90 calendar days after graduation, pending results of the licensing examination.
• Patient Care Delivery: Deliver holistic, quality, and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families within a specific patient population, unit, or service.
• Nursing Process Application: Apply the nursing process within the context of the organization’s Framework for Professional Practice.
• Supervised Practice: Practice under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. Minimum Associate degree is required for consideration, with a commitment to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within six years of the hire date if starting with an Associate degree.
• Experience: Must have completed an application to sit for the CT RN license, with licensure to be obtained within 90 calendar days of the graduation date.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate patient care; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
