Astrodynamics Intern | Millennium Space Systems

The Tone:
This is a 10-12 week full-time internship at Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, located onsite at their facilities. Millennium Space Systems is an agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Interns will contribute to missions that have a direct impact on global security through critical applications such as missile warning and Earth observation. • Mission: Enhance and expand in-house modeling and simulation capabilities for vital mission analysis tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support vital mission analysis tasks across various programs alongside experienced engineers.
• Expand and enhance the test coverage of in-house astrodynamics software by writing unit test functions using Matlab and Python.
• Improve and optimize existing modeling and simulation tools and assist in developing new astrodynamics tools and demonstrations.
• Develop illustrative examples, tutorials, and automated test suites for core astrodynamics tools.
• Present your work, demonstrating acquired hands-on experience in areas like orbital mechanics, maneuver planning, and constellation design, to the engineering team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Aerospace Engineering or equivalent major from a college or university, with an expected graduation date on or after August 2026. This is an early career internship position.
• Experience: Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2026, coupled with experience using GMAT for astrodynamics tasks.
• Skills: Proficiency with MATLAB and Python. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance, as well as willing to apply for and maintain one. U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) is required.
• Bonus: A strong academic performance (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above), exceptional organizational and collaboration skills demonstrated through leadership roles, significant technical project or research experience, and a strong interest in engineering, aerospace, and a career with Boeing.
