The Graduate Nurse is an integral member of the patient care delivery team, providing comprehensive care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and fostering effective communication and collaboration with all team members.

• Team: Reports to a registered nurse.
• Mission: To provide comprehensive patient and family care as an integral member of the patient care delivery team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate and cooperate with care team members, ancillary services, and support services to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and foster productive employee relations.
• Coordinated Care: Under the supervision of a registered nurse, coordinate patient care activities, including patient and family education, for an assigned group of patients, facilitating efficiency and optimizing outcomes.
• Direct Patient Care Delivery: Provide comprehensive direct patient care under registered nurse supervision, determining patient and family needs, implementing care plans, ensuring physician orders are executed, and monitoring responses to treatment and medications.
• Care Planning and Education: Utilize clinical pathways and protocols, integrate discharge planning from admission, modify care plans to achieve desired patient outcomes, and provide instruction for patient and family upon discharge.
• Quality & Safety: Participate in identifying quality improvement opportunities based on feedback and actively promote patient, family, employee, visitor, and unit safety.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience: Temporary authorization to practice as a Graduate Nurse with a commitment to obtain Michigan RN licensure within 90 days of hire.
• Skills:
• Clinical judgment and analytical skills for comprehensive care planning and documentation.
• Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills for effective communication and adherence to procedures.
• High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills for effective teamwork and patient interaction.
• Mathematical ability for dosage calculations and other necessary arithmetic.
• Bonus: BSN preferred.
