What You’ll Actually Do
• Understanding: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the steel production life-cycle within Nucor mills by engaging with various departments and teammates, with a focus on maximizing raw materials and overall profits.
• Relationships: Develop and strengthen critical business relationships with both suppliers and consumers by shadowing experienced teammates, learning effective relationship-building strategies, and actively participating in customer meetings.
• Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with a cohort of other interns on assigned strategic projects, fostering team-building skills and participating in the Nucor Intern Summit to network with peers across Nucor and DJJ.
• Exposure: Acquire in-depth industry exposure through paid overnight travel to supplier and consumer sites, as well as other Nucor divisions, and participate in tours of Steel Mills and Scrap Yards to understand the logistics of the scrap/metal trade.
• Contribution: Contribute directly to strategic planning initiatives by participating in staff meetings and hands-on planning sessions, culminating in the opportunity to present project findings and insights to leadership teams throughout the summer.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess an early career background as an undergraduate student, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a Finance or Accounting program, and entering your Junior or Senior year.
• Experience: Hold a valid state Driver’s License and demonstrate required proficiency with essential business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, maintain a high level of professionalism, and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse array of professionals across the industry.
