Winter 2027 Tax Intern | Topel Forman

This is a full-time paid internship at Topel Forman, located in Denver, CO, running from mid-January to mid-April of 2027. What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare a variety of tax returns, which may include 1099, individual, and/or trust returns, to meet government requirements and client expectations, performing real compliance work similar to a first-year associate.
• Tax Law & Planning: Maintain a working knowledge of individual tax laws and tax preparation software used, and prepare individual and corporate tax extensions to ensure proper tax planning for clients under the guidance of experienced professionals.
• Accounting & Issue Communication: Perform other accounting duties as necessary to meet position responsibilities, and identify and communicate tax and accounting issues to professionals at all levels of the firm, including partners.
• Professional Development: Proactively seek guidance, clarification, and feedback from a dedicated manager mentor and peer “buddy,” ensuring professional growth during your time with the firm.
• Firm Engagement & Project Management: Learn about the firm – its partners, managers, services provided, specialties of individuals, key clients, and industries served – while balancing multiple projects with competing deadlines and building professional communication skills via email and tax workpaper documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Accounting major.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and effective communication skills, alongside an energetic and team-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Availability to commit to a full-time internship from mid-January to mid-April 2027, with no more than two academic classes taken during the internship period.
