Investment Analyst Intern

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Investment Analyst Intern to join our team in the Chicago office. This internship provides an exceptional opportunity for rising juniors to gain hands-on exposure to the private equity and venture capital investment process. Interns will work closely with senior team members on active investment opportunities and portfolio-related initiatives, building a strong foundation in analytical and deal execution skills within a collaborative team environment.

Key Learning Opportunities

  • Practical experience in private equity/venture capital underwriting and transaction execution.
  • Direct involvement in financial analysis, market research, and due diligence.
  • Collaboration with senior investment professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior investment team to structure transactions and negotiate deal terms and legal documents.
  • Support the preparation of detailed pro-forma cash flow, Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), and development models utilizing sophisticated Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research, analyze market data, and present findings internally to inform the investment process.
  • Coordinate due diligence review and the closing process, summarizing and presenting key findings.
  • Support the preparation of Investment Committee Memoranda and participate in Investment Committee meetings.
  • Provide support and coordination required for periodic investor reporting, capital calls, quarterly valuations, and other related tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of fund materials, including modeling various fund level structures, preparing marketing collateral, and researching peer funds in the industry.
  • Maintain the contact database and log of opportunities under review.

Qualifications

  • Seeking a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; prior experience with financial modeling is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in private equity, venture capital, and transaction execution.
  • Availability to work a 12-week internship schedule (preferred).

  • Hourly Rate: $21.00 per hour
