About the Job: Junior Accountant, Canteen

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting various accounting functions. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Financial Transaction Management: Preparing and maintaining accurate financial and business transactions.
  • Account Reconciliations: Preparing and maintaining client and financial account reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
  • Month-End Close Support: Assisting with reporting for month-end accounting close entries and preparing various account reconciliations.
  • Cash Management: Supporting cash position analysis, processing check payments, handling various deposits, and managing purchases, expenses, and trial balances.
  • Revenue Reporting: Compiling and reviewing program revenue reporting and analysis for client programs.
  • Accounts Payable Support: Assisting with Accounts Payable functions, including check runs and reviewing entries.
  • Data Query and Analysis: Developing and running queries using Microsoft Access and Excel to analyze program financial information.
  • Point of Contact: Serving as the primary point of contact for finance-related inquiries.
  • Report Preparation: Preparing other accounting-related reports as needed.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Performing other assigned duties to support the accounting department.

Qualifications

Canteen is looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in accounting principles and practical experience. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Education: An Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliation, or operational support is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
    • Comfort working with vending technology, credit card readers, and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze data, solve problems efficiently, and work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
