About the Internship:

The College Financial Representative internship program at Northwestern Mutual offers a unique opportunity for students to build an integrated financial planning practice from the ground up. Interns receive comprehensive guidance, connection, and a structured framework. Responsibilities:

Our internship program closely mirrors the full-time Financial Representative career path, providing hands-on experience in:

• Learning to prospect and network effectively to build a business and client base.
• Developing and executing a strategic business plan.
• Calling on potential clients and setting meetings to understand their financial goals.
• Preparing financial plans and offering useful, tailored recommendations.
• Gaining exposure to proprietary planning software platforms.
• Engaging in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
• Receiving support for Risk Product State Licensing (Life, Accident, and Health).
• Building essential life skills that foster future career opportunities.

With the option to participate in our internship program year-round, you can continuously grow your practice and receive support for professional registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. Eligible students also have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

Qualifications:

• A full-time student; juniors and seniors preferred.
• Possess entrepreneurial ambitions and a curiosity for sales.
• Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
• Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
• Hold an interest in financial literacy and planning tools.
• Are business savvy and desire to increase critical thinking abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Performance-based earnings and revenue.
• Learning and Development Incentives (up to $1000/month, not inclusive of earned commissions).
• Productivity Bonuses.
• Support for insurance licensing (life, health, DI, LTC).
• Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
