About the Internship Program

Innovative Ag Services is seeking applications for its 2026 Facility Operations Summer Internship Program. This program is designed to identify and develop talented individuals who aspire to become future leaders in the agricultural sector.

IAS is dedicated to providing interns with the necessary tools and resources to gain a deep understanding of cooperative operations and to solidify their career paths within agriculture.

Primary Objective: The core objective of this internship is to provide participants with hands-on knowledge and practical experience across multiple facets of the agriculture business, while contributing to the company’s operations in a safe and effective manner, benefiting both IAS and its member-owners.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities

Interns will engage in day-to-day operational duties and gain valuable training and experience in one or more of the following critical areas:

  • Operating crop nutrient and crop protection mixing and blending facilities, including the utilization of work orders and field maps.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and repair of location equipment and facilities.
  • Participating in the distribution of farm supply products from IAS facilities to customers, learning essential dispatching techniques.
  • Implementing best practices for warehouse orderliness, housekeeping, and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Accompanying and performing custom application practices and techniques of agronomy products, including precision technology.
  • Learning and applying crop scouting techniques and procedures alongside a crop advisor or fellow crop scouting intern.
  • Assisting with the marketing of Innovative Advanced Solutions with a member of the IAS Agronomy Advisor Team.
  • Participating in precision ag technology installations with an IAS Precision Ag Tech.
  • Engaging in grain facility operations for both truck and rail houses, covering receiving, blending, and load-out procedures.
  • Practicing accurate weighing, probing samples of, and grading grain per industry standards.
  • Understanding grain origination, settlement, and merchandising processes at both location and/or grain merchandising offices.
  • Gaining experience in counter sales and store operations.
  • Active participation in company safety training and rigorous adherence to safety policies & procedures in all assigned tasks.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL with a hazmat endorsement, or at minimum a seasonal CDL. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet IAS insurance guidelines.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including excellent phone etiquette.
  • Ability to follow directions effectively and consistently meet deadlines.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring static strength, including lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Possess the flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Demonstrated trunk strength and the ability to utilize abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body repeatedly or continuously.
  • Willingness to perform tasks that may involve repetitive motion.

Environmental Adaptability:

  • Work will be conducted within an agricultural environment, with potential exposure to seasonal weather, varied outdoor conditions, and agricultural products.
  • The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required for certain tasks.
