Job Title: Test Intern
Job Description:
Our Test Interns play a significant role within a team of engineers and industry professionals, contributing to the development and testing of hardware and firmware. This work is crucial for optimizing industrial operations and helping our customers realize the vision of the Connected Enterprise. Interns will gain comprehensive exposure to the company’s business structure and its impact on the industry.
The test roles are divided into two primary categories:
• Hardware Test:
• Develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans.
• Focus areas include board-level functional testing, EMC validation, and compliance with Certification Agencies (e.g., UL, ATEX, IECEX).
• Involve functional safety testing according to IEC 61508.
• Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
• Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports.
• Firmware Test:
• Ideal for candidates passionate about pushing products to their limits to meet rigid industrial standards.
• Design and develop scripts for automating test procedures.
• Document test procedures.
• Execute test procedures for verification of product functionality (both manual and automated).
• Create comprehensive test reports.
• Assist with lab audit and improvement activities.
• Support the build and commissioning of test firmware and hardware platforms.
Qualifications & Skills:
Candidates should possess a strong foundation in engineering principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Education:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field from an accredited college or university.
• Technical Skills:
• Basic Programming: Proficiency in at least one of the following: C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
• Circuit Theory: Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, and programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs).
• Electronics Experience: Experience with Power Electronics or motors.
• Design Tools: Experience with design capture tools and the ability to work with schematic drawings.
• Software & Modeling Tools: Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creoparametric, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, or Matlab.
• Industrial Automation: Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
• Methodology:
• Experience with Agile methodology.
Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $22 – $32 per hour.
