Summary

The Food & Beverage Intern at Wild Dunes Resort is responsible for overseeing assigned Food & Beverage outlets to ensure optimum performance, exceptional guest service, and maximum profitability of all functions. This role involves training and motivating staff to exceed goals and assisting in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond Standards.

The Intern will consistently provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests, exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture and promoting the resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice.

Essential Job Functions

As a Food & Beverage Intern, you will welcome guests and work across various F&B areas to deliver an excellent guest experience, including managing guest queries. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Ability to work across all areas of Food & Beverage, including Bar, Restaurant, Room Service, and Conference & Events.
  • Manage guest queries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning dining areas and preparing silverware and condiments.
  • Adhere to all cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure strict compliance with brand standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
  • Attend mandatory monthly department, resort, and division meetings.
  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all resort amenities and special events.
  • Interact with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.
  • Maintain constant awareness of safety issues (e.g., broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks, suspicious persons) and report all safety incidents to the on-duty supervisor.
  • Act with responsibility towards all company property, supplies, and equipment.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Must currently be enrolled in a 4-year degree program.
  • Supervisory food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Prior Four or Five Diamond experience preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Highly detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills and foster a teamwork environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong ability to resolve problems/conflicts and interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for 8+ hours.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height, and push/pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently; squeezing and overhead reaching occasionally.
