About the Internship Opportunity

The IT Intern will support the IT team in its strategic initiative of enhancing the accuracy, reliability, and security of SERC’s IT environment. To aid in this initiative, the primary focus of the intern will be to review and update SERC’s Asset Inventory & Configuration Management Database.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Asset Management.
  • Collect and correlate data from multiple sources to update the Configuration Management Database.
  • Learn to use Service Desk for endpoint and asset management.
  • Make recommendations for process and documentation improvement.
  • Learn why asset management is the cornerstone to vulnerability management.
  • Learn from and work with a seasoned team of IT Professionals.
  • Maintain the integrity of documentation regarding asset management.
  • Assist in the support of day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program and working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of General Information Technology concepts.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and good communication skills.
  • Creative approach to tasks with the initiative to complete complex projects.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Insatiable desire to learn.

Internship Details & Logistics

  • Compensation: This is a paid internship starting at $20 per hour.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week for up to 12 weeks.
  • Internship Dates: Approximately May 18, 2026 – August 7, 2026.
  • Location: Charlotte, NC. A minimum of 3 days per week expected in the office.
