IT Support Intern – Milwaukee Property and Casualty | Milliman
The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Milliman, located in Brookfield, WI. Milliman is a global leader in actuarial consulting, helping organizations address complex challenges in insurance, risk management, and healthcare. This role is vital for ensuring that all technology for the 80+ person Casualty IT Support practice is in seamless working order. You will be instrumental in maintaining end-user systems and enhancing existing IT solutions.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time (10-30 hours per week, regular onsite schedule during the 2026-27 school year)
• Location: In-person – Brookfield, WI
• Team: Casualty IT Support team, supporting the 80+ person practice.
• Mission: Resolve technical issues and enhance existing solutions to ensure seamless technology operations for end-users.
• Tech Stack: Windows 10/11, Microsoft software solutions, hardware (desktop, laptop, printer, conferencing equipment, mobile devices), O365, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub, TCP/IP networking, Active Directory, Linux, Mac.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Respond & Resolve: Swiftly respond to incoming tickets and ad hoc requests, resolving technical issues for local and remote users with utmost attention to detail.
• Manage & Document: Prioritize tickets, create, update, and review technical process documentation, and contribute to the IT knowledge base.
• Install & Configure: Physically install, configure, and relocate new and existing hardware, software, and systems, including completing hardware refresh workflows.
• Support & Guide: Provide A/V support for in-office meetings and offer orientation and guidance to users on new software and computer equipment.
• Audit & Research: Complete auditing tasks, solve technical problems on the fly, and conduct thorough research to investigate issues, ensuring compliance standards for retired assets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Some experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows 10/11 and Microsoft software solution technologies, as well as hardware (desktop, laptop, printer, conferencing equipment, mobile devices), preferably in an office or professional services environment.
• Experience: Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 11 and O365 environment. Experience using Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub, or similar AI tools in academic, personal, or professional projects.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Organized and positive approach to solving problems. Professional demeanor in oral and written communication. Ability to physically install and relocate equipment, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Bonus: Experience with deploying or creating images. Experience using Active Directory to manage resources. Experience supporting non-Windows platform(s) (e.g., Linux or Mac operating systems). Previous experience working in an office or professional services environment.
