2027 New York Life Investment Management – AI & Data Science Internship | New York Life Insurance Company
The Tone:
This is a 10-week paid internship at New York Life, located in New York City. The internship provides hands-on experience applying artificial intelligence and data science within the asset management industry. Interns will develop meaningful skills while contributing to projects that impact investments, marketing, distribution, and client service. This program offers a chance to collaborate with experienced professionals, expand your network, and gain exposure to financial services.

• Tech Stack: SQL, Tableau, Excel, Python, Power BI, AWS, Azure, GCP, machine learning frameworks.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management & Visualization: Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets, then build dashboards and visualizations to communicate meaningful business insights.
• AI/ML Solution Development: Support, design, and build machine learning projects and AI-powered applications, from data preparation and model evaluation to integrating solutions into business workflows.
• Advanced AI Exploration: Research and evaluate emerging AI tools and technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications.
• Problem Solving & Prototyping: Assist in developing proof-of-concept AI applications and prototype quick-win solutions that address real business challenges and improve operational efficiency.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Present findings and collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business partners to deliver production-ready solutions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline OR a master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience: Undergraduate track requires experience with Python or another programming language and a strong understanding of statistics and data analysis. Master’s track requires experience developing AI or machine learning applications, familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks. Both tracks require an interest in investments, financial markets, analytics, operations, or technology.
• Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational and project management abilities, attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Bonus: Previous internship experience, leadership in campus organizations, or relevant coursework is preferred. Familiarity with SQL, Tableau, Python, or Power BI is a plus for undergraduate candidates.
