Mental Health Therapist Internship

  • Location: Weymouth, MA
  • Pay: $15/hour

Program Overview

Sevita’s Internship Program is specifically designed for graduate students pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling (MHC), or Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT). This program offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain:

Interns will acquire invaluable real-world clinical experience under the direct supervision of licensed clinicians. The program provides diverse practical settings, including opportunities to practice in both in-home and outpatient environments. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to align seamlessly with university internship requirements while rigorously preparing students for successful future careers in the dynamic behavioral health field.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Therapist Intern, you will play a crucial role in our team, performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties under master’s level supervision, including:

  • Conducting Psychosocial Assessments: Perform comprehensive assessments and accurately transcribe or dictate relevant information for person-served records.
  • Providing Therapeutic Services: Deliver individual, couple, family, and/or group therapies, as well as crisis interventions, utilizing various evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Engage in mental health consultation and active collaboration with key stakeholders and members of the treatment team to ensure holistic care.
  • Treatment Plan Development: Contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each person served, under the guidance of a master’s level clinician/supervisor.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain current, accurate, and comprehensive medical record documentation within the electronic medical record system for all persons served.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in regular staff meetings, clinical supervision sessions, specialized training programs, and one-on-one meetings with your direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Pursuit: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field that leads to licensure in counseling or marriage and family therapy.
  • Practicum Completion: Successful completion and submission of proof of a Master’s level practicum.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children/adolescents is highly preferred (experience in a clinical or mental health setting is a distinct advantage).
  • Driving Requirements: Possess a current driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
