GE Vernova is uniquely positioned to lead the energy transition by continuing to electrify the world while simultaneously working to decarbonize it, helping customers power economies and deliver vital electricity.

### Job Description

We are seeking a Graduate Student with a strong background in AI/ML and expertise in time-series data to research, develop, and test Time-Series Foundation Models (TSFMs) for critical energy systems.

Time-Series Foundation Models (TSFMs) are general-purpose models pre-trained on large-scale, diverse time-series datasets collected from various applications and domains. Similar to Large Language Models (LLMs), TSFMs are designed to be task- and application-agnostic, capable of performing a wide range of time-series tasks such as forecasting, classification, and anomaly detection. This allows them to be trained and deployed at scale across different use cases within the energy sector.

In this role, you will specifically focus on applying these innovative models to energy systems, including gas turbines, wind turbines, and the power grid.

#### Key Responsibilities:

Research, develop, and test TSFMs for critical energy systems like gas turbines, wind turbines, and the power grid.
• Conduct research on transformer-based architectures tailored for time-series data.
• Perform model training and validation processes effectively.
• Execute hyperparameter optimization leveraging multiple GPUs for efficient model development.

### Qualifications (Required):

• Currently pursuing a PhD or Master’s degree in AI, Computer Science, Estimation and Control Theory, or a closely related field.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Export Control Restrictions: Due to the specific categories of data handled by GE Vernova Advanced Research and the structure of our work environment, we are unable to accommodate employment of persons while they are considered nationals of countries subject to comprehensive restrictions under the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 CFR Section 746 et seq. (currently North Korea, Syria, Iran, and Cuba). Citizens of these countries who have either “U.S. person” status under U.S. export control laws or subsequent citizenship or permanent residency from a non-restricted country can be considered.
• Must be willing to work on-site out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
• A minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0 scale or 3.0/4.0 scale.

### Desired Skills:

• Demonstrated scientific curiosity and a strong willingness to explore, learn, and innovate.
Strong background in AI/ML, deep learning, and mathematical optimization.
Strong working knowledge of Python and major machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Familiarity with large-scale data storage and processing pipelines (e.g., AWS).
• Familiarity with foundation models, LLM architectures, hyper-parameter optimization, and fine-tuning techniques.
• Prior experience working with time-series data (for forecasting, anomaly detection, etc.).
• Experience with GPU training and parallelization.

### Compensation:

The weekly base pay range for this position is $1,000 – $2,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

### Benefits Available To Interns/Co-ops:

While U.S. Internship roles are generally ineligible for full GE Vernova benefits, this position offers specific benefits designed to support our temporary workforce:

Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling, and referral services.
GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP): Eligibility after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day).
