Location & Eligibility:
This internship is not eligible for relocation assistance; local candidates are preferred.

About the Role:
National Bank of Arizona is offering an invaluable opportunity for an intern to join our Commercial Real Estate Group. This role provides hands-on experience and exposure to the core functions of commercial real estate finance, focusing heavily on financial analysis, credit underwriting, and industry research.

Key Responsibilities:
The intern will actively work on or be exposed to the following critical tasks:

• Financial Statement Analysis: Analyze financial statements of borrowers and guarantors, underwriting their key strengths and weaknesses.
• Ratio Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of borrower financial statement ratios, comparing them to industry averages and generating summaries of questions or issues for loan underwriting discussions.
• Personal Financial Review: Analyze individual tax returns and credit reports to accurately calculate debt-to-income ratios and personal cash flow available for debt service.
• Research & Due Diligence: Perform comprehensive research on individual owners and businesses, providing summarized findings.
• Industry Research: Review industry research reports to provide concise summaries of specific industries relevant to commercial and industrial loans.
• Loan Portfolio Management: Assist in completing annual file and loan reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Data Management: Contribute to various clean-up and data-related projects, enhancing data integrity and accessibility.

Qualifications:

• Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic emphasis in finance, accounting, business, or related coursework.
• Foundational Knowledge: Basic working knowledge or demonstrated interest in financial and spread analysis, credit principles, lending processes, and underwriting methodologies.
• Industry Interest: Knowledge or keen interest in working with various types of loans, understanding credit risk, and familiarizing oneself with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Interpersonal Skills: Requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills, fostering positive relationships.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
• Analytical & Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Decision-Making & Inquisitiveness: Ability to make sound decisions and a natural inquisitiveness; not afraid to ask questions or make recommendations.
• Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of standard computer software programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
