The Opportunity: Summer Transportation Intern (Limited-Term, Full-Time)
Mead & Hunt is excited to offer a limited-term, full-time summer internship position within our dynamic Transportation group. This invaluable opportunity will provide exposure to real-world transportation projects and allow you to contribute meaningfully to our team’s success.
- Location: Charleston, WV
- Duration: May/June 2026 – August/September 2026 (Full-Time Summer Position)
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Assisting with conducting topographic surveys and boundary surveys.
- Assisting with construction staking.
- Field observations and data collection.
- Assisting with the preparation of technical reports and memos.
- Participation in technical and client meetings.
What You Can Expect from Your Internship Experience:
- Exposure to a wide range of projects and professionals across all our transportation groups.
- Collaborate with project managers and colleagues on multiple transportation projects varying in size and scope.
- Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local design standards.
- Utilize technical software programs for analysis, preparation, and quality checking of client deliverables.
- Engage in fun team-building activities, providing excellent networking opportunities with professionals and fellow interns.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying from an accredited college or university.
- Familiarity with data collecting and/or robotic total station.
- Experience with GPS devices.
- Experience conducting topographic and/or boundary surveys.
- Experience conducting courthouse research related to surveys.
- Interns will be expected to visit project sites for data collection and attend out-of-office meetings/events; therefore, a valid driver’s license is recommended.
