Job Title: Intern, Risk Governance Operations (Summer 2026)

Team Introduction: Risk Governance Operations Team

The Risk Governance Operations Team at TikTok is dedicated to perceiving and reducing the prevalence of bad Ads. This is achieved through content and actor risk strategy management, alongside continuous risk platform enhancement. Our core mission is to provide proactive and precise operations to maintain TikTok as a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all users.

Internship Overview:

TikTok is seeking talented individuals for a 12-week internship program in Summer 2026. This program aims to provide students with industry exposure, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to develop fundamental skills while exploring potential career paths. Interns will engage in real-world scenarios, contribute to meaningful projects, and participate in a vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops. This internship is designed to build a strong foundation for both personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Risk Strategy & Governance

  • Design and execute risk control strategies informed by ad content, user behavior, historical data, expert insights, and regulatory trends.
  • Develop and operationalize intelligent risk governance frameworks that strike a balance between risk mitigation, monetization, and user experience objectives.
  • Monitor and interpret risk signals, identify root causes of metric fluctuations, and build governance solutions with a focus on quantifiable impact.

2. Cross-Functional Program Leadership

  • Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects involving diverse teams such as product, operations, policy, data science, engineering, and regional teams.
  • Develop prioritization frameworks to effectively manage program scope, resources, and timelines.
  • Serve as a thought partner to leadership, driving alignment on strategy, execution, and success metrics.

3. Data-Driven Execution

  • Translate complex datasets into actionable risk insights using tools like SQL, Hive, or Spark.
  • Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to evaluate the effectiveness of risk features and governance mechanisms.
  • Drive continuous iteration and performance evaluation of risk mitigation strategies based on data and feedback loops.

4. Operational Optimization

  • Create scalable processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance quality, efficiency, and SLA adherence across risk workflows.
  • Collaborate with Trust & Safety, policy, and regional operations teams to align on global standards for enforcement and escalation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Proficiency in SQL or other data analysis tools; demonstrated ability to distill insights from complex datasets.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly across diverse regions and disciplines.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities.
  • Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with trust & safety, ad policy enforcement, fraud risk, or platform integrity is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits (Campus Intern):

  • Hourly Rate Range: $25 – $40 (for the selected city).
  • Benefits may vary based on employment nature and country of work location.
  • Day one access to health insurance, life insurance, and wellbeing benefits.
  • 10 paid holidays per year.
  • Paid sick time: 56 hours (if hired in the first half of the year), 40 hours (if hired in the second half of the year).
  • Interns not working 100% remote may be eligible for a housing allowance.
