About the Opportunity:
RS&H is seeking a motivated Summer 2026 Aviation Engineering Intern to join our Infrastructure Business Unit in Plymouth, MI. This is an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic aviation industry and grow professionally with a rapidly expanding firm.

As an Aviation Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of our team, focusing on innovative design and technical excellence for aviation projects. You will collaborate closely with and be mentored by experienced airfield engineers, contributing to projects that demand completion on time, within budget, and to our clients’ complete satisfaction.

This internship will provide a comprehensive understanding of airport design and the broader aviation industry through involvement in:

  • Design and construction of critical airport infrastructure such as runways, taxiways, and terminals.
  • Development of Federal Aviation Administration Navigation Aids (FAA NAVAIDs) and intricate airport lighting systems.
  • Planning and design of various airport support facilities.
  • A wide range of airport projects combining innovative airside and landside design with robust technical standards.
  • Gaining experience in long-term airport planning, detailed engineering design, and construction administration.

Specific engineering design elements you may work on include grading, drainage, pavement geometry, and construction phasing. Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine calculations requiring a solid understanding and application of basic engineering principles.
  • Prepare and revise plan documents and details with precision.
  • Accurately calculate and review quantities for project materials.
  • Collect and prepare data essential for engineering evaluations.
  • Engage in engineering tasks utilizing computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
  • Provide valuable support for field inspection assignments, gaining practical site experience.
  • Offer comprehensive support to engineering and project management associates.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Possess a strong work ethic that aligns with RS&H’s mission and core values.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD.
  • A specific and genuine interest in airports and the aviation industry.
  • A strong desire to work on aviation-focused projects.
