Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineering Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Industrial Engineering team, focusing on the analysis, design, and improvement of manufacturing processes. This intern will engage in real-world projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with lean principles, data analysis, and process optimization within a world-class final assembly manufacturing facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete a series of projects that directly apply the analytical and problem-solving skills acquired in Industrial Engineering coursework.
  • Collaborate closely with production personnel and cross-functional teams to identify process constraints and drive actionable change.
  • Assist with time study and work measurement activities.
  • Analyze production data using tools such as Excel, Tableau, SQL, or Python to identify variability, bottlenecks, and risk factors that substantiate improvement opportunities.
  • Apply lean tools to progress from problem identification through root cause analysis, develop countermeasure solutions, and verify results.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and performance reports that visualize key metrics.
  • Continuously refine reporting tools to enhance data visibility for stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear, concise project updates, technical documentation, and presentation decks tailored for cross-functional audiences.

Security Clearance Requirement:
The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and lean manufacturing concepts.

Desired Skills:

  • Practical work experience, including prior internship or co-op experience.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel Macros, Python).
  • Experience with Discrete Event Simulation (e.g., Simio) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Grafana).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule Information:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week, while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits.

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $31,616 – $77,788
  • For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.

Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Premium Pay Statement (For most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York):

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $36,504 – $77,788
  • For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
