Merrick & Company is actively seeking a bright and motivated college or graduate school Mechanical Engineering student for a rewarding paid summer internship in Summer 2026. Internship Duration:
- Approximately mid-May through mid-August 2026.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities):
The Merrick Intern Program is designed to provide undergraduate or graduate students with practical, hands-on technical experience in the field of mechanical engineering. As an intern, you will be exposed to and contribute to a diverse range of mechanical engineering activities, potentially including:
- Detailed Machine Design
- 3D Modeling in CREO (Pro/Engineer)
- Creation of Engineering Drawings using CREO (Pro/Engineer)
- Sizing of mechanical commercial components
- Stress Analysis of components
- Work on Piping Systems
- Exposure to HVAC/Facilities Design
- Understanding and application of NQA-1 Quality Requirements
- Collaboration with other engineering disciplines
- Interfacing with clients and contractors
- Following project schedules and budget commitments
- Working both independently and as part of a team
- Utilizing and developing strong written and oral communication skills
- Problem-solving real-world engineering challenges
The role also requires a commitment to excellent attendance and punctuality.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree, OR currently enrolled in grad school.
- Must have a graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of client projects for this position.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in CREO (Pro/Engineer) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Solidworks, Revit, CADworx, or other 3D modeling packages.
- Previous internships in Mechanical Engineering.
