Unpaid Remote Youth Activism & Civic Engagement Internship/Volunteer Opportunity
Join TurnUp, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic engagement and activism to strengthen democracy. This is a unique opportunity for mission-driven young people across the United States to amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on critical progressive and social justice issues.
Opportunity Details:
- Position Type: Unpaid Remote Internship or Volunteer Opportunity
- Commitment: 5-30+ hours per week (flexible)
- Start & End Dates: Flexible
- Application Deadline: Rolling – TurnUp accepts applications year-round until all team positions are filled.
Key Responsibilities & Curriculum:
As part of our team, you will:
- Participate in Grassroots Activism and Advocacy: Work on teams to engage in activism and advocacy on civic and social justice issues you care about.
- Research & Education: Conduct research to become better educated and aware about various topics, including climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, and combating voter suppression.
- Voter Registration Drives:
- Join and help with existing registration drives at your school.
- If no drive exists, TurnUp will support you in initiating and performing your own registration efforts (peer-to-peer or running a drive with school permission).
- Collaborate on Civic Actions: Engage in civic actions, voter turnout projects, targeted outreach, and advocacy.
- Volunteer & Learn: Find and participate in volunteer opportunities together and attend the TurnUp Speaker Series, featuring world-renowned speakers.
- Civic and Activism Related Research & Writing: Contribute to research and writing projects related to civic engagement and activism.
- Advocate for Youth Issues: Work together to advocate for issues important to young people, fight voter suppression, and boost youth voter turnout in the United States.
