Summer 2027 Internship – Lending | ING Americas
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at ING Americas, located in New York. ING Americas’ Wholesale Banking division offers a broad range of financial products and services to domestic and international corporate and institutional clients. This role provides students with a hands-on opportunity to gain professional experience within a global financial institution, contributing to live deals and projects, and enhancing their understanding of the finance and banking industry. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work and explore new directions in your career.
The TL;DR

• Pay: $45 hourly
• Team: Within the Lending team, working in deal teams alongside senior bankers.
• Mission: To support Lending professionals in deal execution, client relationships, and portfolio management to enhance overall team effectiveness and project success.
• Tech Stack: MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Deal Analysis: Analyze transaction profitability, conduct industry and market research, and prepare transaction proposals for specialized lending.
• Risk Assessment: Perform credit risk analysis and contribute to the preparation of credit approval proposals for various transactions.
• Financial Modeling: Create and update financial models, analyze results, and coordinate the closing of transactions.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor project trends, provide performance insights, and support quarterly credit reviews, ad-hoc requests, and periodic portfolio presentations.
• Team Collaboration: Liaise with other product specialists and departments, prepare general research assignments, and support ESG assessments and risk ratings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate college student graduating in 2028, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. Graduate students and liberal arts majors interested in finance are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Prior financial internship or relevant financial experience is helpful.
• Skills: Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, with strong multi-tasking, analytical, problem-solving, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Financial modeling and credit writing exposure is valuable, along with knowledge of project finance and/or corporate finance.
