This crucial role ensures the website remains accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for all users. The intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience in web content management, digital accessibility tools, and the unique workflows of higher education marketing.

• Mission: To support the Harbert College of Business by maintaining website content, ensuring quality, and improving digital accessibility standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Updates: Assist in updating and publishing various types of content across the Harbert website, utilizing the designated Content Management System (CMS) to edit pages, upload images, and format text according to guidelines.
• Quality Assurance: Proactively monitor for and accurately report issues such as broken links, misspellings, and outdated content across web pages, using specialized tools like SiteImprove for comprehensive analysis.
• Accessibility Support: Contribute to ongoing accessibility improvements by reviewing flagged issues identified through auditing tools and implementing basic fixes, including appropriate alt text for images and correct heading structures.
• Branding & SEO Audits: Conduct regular audits of web pages to ensure strict consistency in branding elements, formatting styles, and adherence to established SEO best practices, enhancing the site’s overall quality and discoverability.
• Directory Maintenance: Provide essential support in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the faculty and staff directory, diligently updating biographies, head-shots, and current job titles.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be an enrolled student at Auburn University, with an interest in digital communications.
• Experience: Familiarity with general website editing tools or content management systems (CMS).
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow brand and editorial guidelines, a basic understanding of HTML and CSS, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: A willingness to learn web publishing tools and new digital communication methods.
