Visual Development & Environment Art Internship (Unpaid)
We are T’sarE! (Pronounced: “T’zar-ee”) – a startup entertainment company currently focused on creating our first major project.
Our inaugural project is a 3D platformer video game, slated for initial release on Steam, with subsequent launches planned for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. This game is designed to evoke a nostalgic feeling, reminiscent of similar titles from the early ‘90s and ‘00s. It features three playable characters, 25 distinct worlds to explore, and an intricate story that subtly outlines struggles within the real world. The overall art style is cartoony and fun, targeting a primary audience of children aged 5 to 12 years old. More comprehensive information on this game will be provided upon acceptance to T’sarE! and the signing of our Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and Code of Conduct (COC).
Our diverse team, comprising over 70 dedicated individuals, has expanded significantly over the past year. This team has been diligently creating the necessary elements to release a demo without any financial compensation. As such, we must consider all applicants for this position as UNPAID INTERNS until further notice. Our immediate objective is to create a working demo for public release, which will then serve as the foundation for a crowdfunding campaign. Following the game’s successful release, these positions have the potential to transition into paying career opportunities for those who wish to continue with T’sarE!. We are actively seeking more hard-working game enthusiasts who aspire to be a part of something truly BIG! This entry-level position offers invaluable experience, the chance to work collaboratively within a large team, and the opportunity to see your contributions directly utilized in the development of a full-scale game. You will gain practical skills in organization, learn important industry naming conventions, and acquire valuable tricks and techniques applicable to professional game development. We are currently nearing the halfway point of production.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Thoroughly read assignments and understand all provided references.
- Create compelling mood boards for various game worlds and levels.
- Develop high-quality textures for 3D models.
- Possess strong foundational knowledge of 3D modeling principles.
- Draw detailed 3D environments, including the creation of turnarounds where required. A solid understanding of orthographic views is critically important.
- For specific projects, utilize provided map layouts to gain a comprehensive understanding of level design and mechanics.
- Adhere strictly to our established style guidelines, as thoroughly detailed in our comprehensive Style Guide document.
Important Note Regarding Compensation:
While designated as an internship, this role is expected to be treated with the commitment and dedication typically associated with a job. Our existing team of over 70 individuals has been diligently creating the necessary elements for a demo release without any financial compensation. Consequently, all applicants for this role will be considered as UNPAID INTERNS until further notice. Our long-term vision is that upon the game’s successful release, these roles can evolve into paying career opportunities for those who choose to continue. Our current and primary goal is to successfully create a working demo for public launch, followed by a strategic crowdfunding initiative.
