Vice President | Private Equity, GP Stakes | New York Life Insurance Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Apogem Capital, located in New York, NY or Chicago, IL, operating within the New York Life Investment Management platform. Apogem is a leading private markets solutions provider focused on the middle market, and its RidgeLake Partners strategy specializes in GP stakes investments. This role is crucial for supporting the PE GP Stakes strategy across investor relations and capital formation, contributing significantly to portfolio monitoring, valuation, and reporting. The successful candidate will play a key part in strengthening partnerships and driving long-term value creation for institutional investors.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: Hybrid, New York, NY
• Team: Reports to the Managing Director on the PE GP Stakes team; works in close daily coordination with Apogem’s central IR, Distribution, and Marketing functions.
• Mission: This person owns supporting the PE GP Stakes strategy primarily across investor relations and capital formation, ensuring effective communication and capital raising for partner GPs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investor Relations: Prepare and manage all investor-facing materials, data requests, and communications to support fundraising and strategy updates.
• Capital Formation: Partner with internal and external teams to execute fundraising strategies, maintain prospect pipelines, and coordinate investor meetings and events.
• GP Advisory: Advise partner GPs on investor relations, marketing, fundraising strategy, and infrastructure improvements, facilitating strategic introductions to prospective LPs.
• Portfolio Oversight: Help coordinate quarterly investor letters, maintain portfolio KPIs and dashboards, and assist with periodic platform, fund, and asset-level reviews.
• Transaction Support: Assist with initial and exit transaction materials, financial diligence, projections, and broader GP Stakes platform priorities as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Vice President level professional with a core understanding of GP business models, asset management economics, fundraising cycles, and institutional investor decision-making.
• Experience: 7 to 12 years of experience in investor relations, fundraising, capital formation, placement agent work, or private markets advisory. Direct experience with fundraising, investor diligence, DDQs, data rooms, LP communications, and investor meetings is required.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, commercial mindset with relationship-building ability, and analytical strength to manage cross-functional processes.
• Bonus: Prior exposure to valuation, financial diligence, or IC-level analysis; familiarity with GP stakes or minority-investing structures; or experience with portfolio monitoring tools, CRM platforms, or data room administration.
