Job Description:
This externship offers veterinary students in their final year of education a comprehensive learning experience at Wasilla Veterinary Clinic in Alaska. The extern will work directly under the supervision of a veterinarian to develop a wide range of practical skills.
Responsibilities will include:
• Gathering patient histories
• Performing physical exams
• Creating treatment plans
• Running and interpreting diagnostics
• Participating in dentistry services
• Observing, assisting with, or performing surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients
• Communicating effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on the student’s and hospital’s schedules.
Priority is given to students interested in practicing in Alaska after graduation.
Requirements:
• Must be in the final year of veterinary education.
• Must obtain a veterinary student permit from the State of Alaska before the externship begins. Instructions on how to obtain the permit are available HERE.
Compensation:
