About Beacon AI

Beacon AI is a company developing AI pilot assistant technology to revolutionize the aviation industry. Their mission is to leverage the power of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics to improve flight safety, operational efficiency, and pilot capabilities. They are at the cutting edge of technological innovation, aiming to transform the second century of aviation.

Job Description

Beacon AI is seeking passionate and talented individuals for a variety of engineering and non-engineering positions. The company welcomes expertise in areas such as software, embedded, hardware, or robotics engineering. You will play a key role in supporting their technological innovations across various teams.

Application Areas:

Edge Compute: Beacon AI builds on the application layer, primarily focusing on two products. This “brains” of their pilot assistant, Murdock, can be compared to the first two-thirds of a self-driving car software stack or a standard ‘robotics’ style software stack. It involves developing aviation-certified software and feature/domain-specific pilot assistant functions. This team also has some AI/ML aspects.
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Data Science: Many concepts (e.g., data sources with high input variability like speech and vision) are not well suited to strict rule-based code. Beacon AI utilizes recent advancements in data science and large language models to improve both live and pre-/post-flight software and data analysis.
Simulation: The company prioritizes reliable feature verification and realistic event permutations in simulations, crucial for overall system reliability.
Cloud Infrastructure/Backend: This team is responsible for building the data infrastructure that collects, stores, and analyzes data from customers and aircraft. It manages APIs, data pipelines, and code deployment.
Aircraft Software and System Integration: Flight software engineers interface directly with avionics and write FAA-compliant software for interaction. Embedded systems engineers integrate system components by interacting with avionics, microcontrollers, network devices, etc.
Hardware: Beacon AI uses sensors, compute, interface components, and housings to receive, process, store, and deliver data where needed.
Security: This multi-domain security engineer will focus on securing the cloud, web, tablet, and edge computers and networks to protect user integrity and privacy.

What Makes You Successful:

Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, willing to take on new challenges and learn quickly.
Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Proactive Problem-Solving: Initiative to identify issues and develop creative solutions independently.
Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to tasks, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.

Bonus Points:

Passion for Aviation: Enthusiasm for advanced mobility and aviation.
Mobility Solutions: Experience with self-driving mobility solutions, drone autopilot, motion planning, or similar robotics problems.
Machine Learning: Experience working on advanced machine learning problems.
Nvidia Devices: Experience working with the Nvidia family of devices or similar.
Embedded Systems: Experience working with embedded systems, sensors, and drivers.

Perks & Benefits for Full-Time Employees:

Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage: Health, vision, and dental benefits with 75% of costs covered by the company.
Paid Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation and 14 company-paid holidays per year.
Connectivity Stipend: Cell phone benefit to stay connected.
Health and Wellness Allowance: Use towards a gym membership or meditation app subscription.
Financial Planning: 401(k) program (matching not currently offered).
