Value Creation Intern – Summer 2027 | Grant Thornton (US)

The Tone:
This is a temporary summer internship at Grant Thornton, located in Boston, MA. Grant Thornton operates as a prominent multinational professional services organization, delivering audit and assurance services through Grant Thornton LLP, and non-attest tax and advisory offerings via Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. With a robust platform spanning the U.S., Ireland, and other territories, the firm serves a diverse clientele. This Value Creation Intern role is integral to supporting private equity investors, growth-focused companies, and corporates in identifying and executing opportunities to enhance business performance across the entire deal lifecycle—from diligence through integration, value creation, and exit. Interns directly contribute to high-impact engagements focused on measurable client value creation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Support: Support operational due diligence, cost optimization, synergy assessment, and integration and carve-out engagements across the deal lifecycle.
• Strategic Research: Conduct comprehensive market, industry, competitor, customer, and company research, including primary and secondary efforts, to inform strategic recommendations.
• Performance Analysis: Assist with data collection, organization, and analysis related to revenue growth, pricing, sales effectiveness, and broader operational improvement strategies.
• Financial & Cost Modeling: Support the development of financial models, spreadsheets, and cost baseline analyses for operational due diligence and cost improvement assessments.
• Client Deliverable Creation: Assist in the development of client-ready PowerPoint presentations, charts, and other analyses that translate complex findings into clear insights.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business-related field such as Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Strategy, Marketing, or Management, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0. Authorization to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship is also required.
• Experience: Demonstrated keen interest in strategy consulting, private equity, value creation, commercial excellence, pricing, growth strategy, financial analysis, M&A, and transaction support. This includes foundational financial modeling and strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with an interest in developing capabilities to quantify revenue, EBITDA, and operational impact.
• Skills: Strong structured problem-solving and analytical capabilities are essential, alongside the ability to conduct comprehensive research, synthesize complex findings, and translate analyses into clear, actionable insights. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are also critical for client interaction and team collaboration.
• Bonus: Familiarity with data visualization tools and comfort leveraging AI-enabled research tools to accelerate analysis and synthesis. Candidates should also exhibit high initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative mindset, actively welcoming different perspectives and continuous learning opportunities.
