Job Title: UX Research & Design Intern
Job Type: Unpaid Internship
Location: 100% Remote (United States)
About the Role
We are a small tech startup dedicated to enhancing enterprise organizations’ technology through our online resources. The UX Research & Design Intern will play a crucial role in defining the optimal digital user experience for multiple projects and prospective users, providing essential design requirements to achieve that experience.
Working closely with a senior designer, a small team of design interns, and various test users, you will help determine the design and functionality necessary to drive an exceptional user experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in defining user journeys, strategy, and recommendations for features and enhancements across various projects and their infrastructure, while balancing business initiatives and technological capabilities.
- Contribute to wire-framing and prototyping efforts to significantly improve user experiences for multiple projects.
- Determine the key factors influencing customer/user goals, experiences, and needs, and create mental models to illustrate user needs and desires.
- Provide valuable input on plans for delivery and release schedules for the UX design framework.
- Quickly capture and assimilate information from diverse sources, translating business requirements and user needs into innovative, engaging, valuable, and usable design solutions.
- Produce and refine user journey maps, site-maps, user-flow diagrams, and wireframes to clearly convey the practical workings of the project.
- Collaborate on initiatives to create interaction models and prototypes that effectively capture the desired user experience, including both macro and micro interactions.
- Create project briefs, presentations, competitive analyses, and other necessary documentation to communicate recommended user experiences to internal stakeholders, as well as the outcomes of changes and user tests.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a workshop, bootcamp, online class, or a bachelor’s degree program in User Experience, Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UI/UX best practices and current trends.
- Strong understanding of fundamental Design Principles.
- Proficiency with design tools, such as Figma.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
- Proficiency in visual design is a plus, but not strictly required.
