Utility Locator | USIC

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at USIC, offering independent field work opportunities nationwide. USIC is America’s leader in underground utility damage prevention and advanced infrastructure services, performing millions of locates each year for telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities and municipalities. This role is crucial for preventing damage to critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety in communities across the country.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time, with required overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts (including nights and holidays)
• Location: Nationwide
• Pay: $20.00 Hourly
• Mission: Deliver quality, efficient, safe, and innovative solutions to protect our partners’ infrastructure and critical assets.
• Tech Stack: Company laptop, phone, equipment, best-in-class ticket and claims management systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Locate Utilities: Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Search Designated Areas: Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area.
• Mark Locations: Accurately mark the location of identified utilities.
• Document and Photograph: Complete the necessary documentation and photograph each locate.
• Conduct Field Work: Independently conduct field work daily, utilizing a company-provided vehicle and equipment.

• Background: A safety-focused, hard-working, and quality-conscious individual who considers themselves a problem solver and takes pride in public safety.
• Experience: No prior locating experience is required as 100% paid training is provided; experienced locators are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Computer proficiency; ability to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities; ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints; ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Bonus: Previous outdoor work experience.
