As a Utility Locator, you will be on the front lines, precisely identifying and marking hidden lines to prevent costly and dangerous accidents before excavation begins, directly contributing to public safety and the protection of vital infrastructure.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Promote Damage Prevention: Act as a crucial contributor to damage prevention within your community by accurately locating and marking underground utilities on the ground using paint and flags.
• Safety Adherence: Prioritize and consistently practice safety protocols in all field operations to protect yourself, your team, and the community.
• Information Management & Interpretation: Utilize a provided laptop computer for receiving, documenting, and processing locate tickets and emails, and interpret maps and blueprints to determine effective locating methods.
• Utility Identification & Marking: Operate specialized locate equipment and technology to precisely identify and troubleshoot underground utilities, then mark their exact locations on the ground.
• Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with peers, managers, and homeowners regarding locate activities, schedule, and findings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent; this is an entry-level position that includes comprehensive 100% paid on-the-job training.
• Experience: Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; no prior experience as a locator is required.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with speed and accuracy; capability for independent work outdoors in all weather conditions; effective communication skills.
• Schedule Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, and participate in scheduled on-call shift rotations to respond to emergency calls.
