Job Description: Undergraduate Research & Development Internship
This internship offers students the chance to contribute to significant strategic and/or operational projects within the company. Projects are matched to interns’ abilities and business needs. Summer projects may include:
• Improving Efficiency and Benchmarking: Partnering with leadership to identify areas for improvement and benchmark against industry best practices.
• Process Ownership: Critically reviewing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions. Learning and applying continuous improvement methodologies (PPI, Six Sigma, etc.).
• Compliance and Safety: Adhering to all company safety, training, and quality regulations (ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements).
• Technical Contributions: Executing experimental plans, analyzing data, contributing to technical reports and product summaries, investigating new methods/technologies, and maintaining accurate lab notebooks to protect intellectual property.
• Collaboration: Working with various departments (Business Development, Quality, Operations, Technical Services, Marketing) in the commercialization of new products.
Specifics:
• Start Date: May 12th or June 16th, 2025
• Duration: 10-12 weeks
• Compensation: hourly rate between $21.50 – $28.75 (depending on location and cost-of-living), plus a $5,000 relocation stipend (if located 50+ miles from internship site).
• Qualifications: Undergraduate student (Engineering or Life Sciences) graduating between December 2025 and June 2026. Previous internship experience is preferred but not required. Strong track record demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity. Excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills are essential. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Thermo Fisher does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience.
California Specific Compensation: hourly pay range: $21.00–$24.00. Potential for variable annual bonus.
