The Student Assistant will contribute to these vital functions by assisting with professional accounting duties, helping to ensure timely financial disbursements, accounts receivable, and accurate reporting of state and federal funds, thereby upholding the department’s mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist with Professional Accounting: Learn to perform a variety of professional accounting duties that contribute to the maintenance of the California Department of Social Services’ fiscal integrity.
• Manage Financial Data: Request and meticulously organize financial data essential for accounting processes and analysis.
• Analyze and Audit Records: Participate in auditing and analyzing financial data to support accurate accounting transactions and reporting.
• Process Transactions: Learn to post critical accounting transactions to ensure proper financial record-keeping.
• Perform Reconciliations: Execute various reconciliations for general ledger accounts, funds, and internal records, directly supporting timely disbursements, accounts receivable invoices, and accurate reporting of state and federal funds.
