The Tone:
This is an internship at BMW Group, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. This role is crucial for maintaining the seamless operation of BMW’s production lines by establishing integrated supply chain solutions. As a Transportation Management International Intern, you will act as a gatekeeper of the supply chain, directly contributing to the continuous supply of parts with the right timing, quantity, and quality.

• Team: The Transportation Management team focuses on Material Control, Transportation Control, and Delivery Assurance, connecting the network with integrated supply chain solutions.
• Mission: To safeguard BMW production by ensuring the continuous, timely, and quality supply of parts at the right place and quantity.
• Tech Stack: SAP, SQL, Power BI, VBA, RPA/UIPath, Python.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Support the department in various transportation projects, covering operational aspects, contract management, returnable container steering, and detailed reporting for both sea and air freight logistics.
• Error Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve upstream process partner errors that could impact the department’s overall performance and efficiency.
• Data Processing & Reporting: Conduct comprehensive data processing using tools like SAP, SQL, and Power BI, creating and maintaining weekly and daily reports, including data mining and visualization.
• Project Assistance: Assist JIT/JIS (Just-In-Time/Just-In-Sequence) and SCM (Supply Chain Management) Project Leads, contributing to critical supply chain initiatives.
• Advanced Project Contribution: Actively contribute to projects focused on Smart Container Management, KPI Dashboards, Data Analytics, Sustainability (e.g., CO2 emission reduction with E-Trucks), Continuous Improvement, Digitalization of Shipments, and Robotic Process Automation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be pursuing a degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering and be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
• Experience: Requires completion of a prior BMW internship of at least three months in length, along with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, basic SAP knowledge, independent and detail-oriented work, strong organizational skills, effective communication and collaboration, quick comprehension, analytical abilities, time management, and Lean Six Sigma methods.
• Bonus: Potential to gain German language skills, demonstrated cultural awareness, and proven leadership abilities.
