Job Description: Transportation Intern
DOWL is seeking an enthusiastic Transportation Intern to join their dynamic team in Juneau, AK. This internship offers a hands-on experience across a variety of engineering projects and serves as a launchpad for a future career in civil engineering.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, project design, and construction inspection.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications to estimate construction costs.
• Perform AutoCAD drafting support.
• Prepare and route project-related correspondence and record keeping.
• Assist with writing and editing of construction specifications and technical reports.
• Other engineering-related duties as assigned.
The intern will receive personalized, one-on-one mentorship from experienced professionals and contribute meaningfully to active projects in disciplines like Transportation & Structures, Water & Environmental Services, Civil & Land Development, and Construction-Related Services. They will work with industry-standard software and tools to analyze data, develop designs, create technical documents, and support construction activities. Fieldwork, inspections, and construction administration may also be part of their experience.
