Traffic Planning Intern – Summer 2026
Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design is actively seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Traffic Planning Discipline for Summer 2026 in our Allentown, PA office. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist technical staff with day-to-day design tasks for various types of transportation and traffic projects.
- Conduct traffic analysis responsibilities including data collection, crash analysis, and intersection & roadway capacity analysis utilizing various software, under the supervision of junior and senior level engineers.
- Perform traffic reporting duties including preparation of traffic impact studies as assigned by your management team.
- Execute CAD work for conceptual design plans from a traffic planning & preliminary design perspective.
- Contribute to cost estimating responsibilities for detailed design plans.
- Opportunity to advance to higher level responsibility depending upon performance throughout the summer.
- Collaborate with other interns to understand various disciplines and aspects of Colliers Engineering & Design.
- Participate in planning and technical report documentation.

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related program at an ABET-accredited University.
- Previous coursework in Traffic Planning, Traffic Design or Transportation preferred.
- Prior internship experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated interest in working on Traffic and Transportation related projects.
- Must have reliable transportation to the office.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess solid problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work effectively in a high-paced environment.
- Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
