About the Job: Tax Summer Intern (2026 Internship Program)

Schneider Downs is seeking motivated students for their 2026 internship program, designed to provide participants with meaningful work experiences and expand their knowledge within the public accounting environment. This internship also serves as a key component of the firm’s hiring needs.

Role: Tax Summer Intern

Program Focus:
The internship offers the chance to learn about Schneider Downs’ work, make an impact helping organizations, and grow professional skills within a learning culture that values quality and integrity. Interns will be supported by Schneider Downs professionals.

Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do):
• Work as a member of the engagement team.
• Handle a variety of assigned projects that assist with the completion of engagements.
• Primarily responsible for the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns.
• Support various projects related to both tax compliance and tax consulting matters.
Research and analyze accounting and tax-related issues.
• Utilize data extraction, data analytics, and data visualization tools to provide insights to clients.
Proactively interact with the engagement team to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.

Program Logistics:
Work Model: Schneider Downs has embraced a hybrid work model, offering flexibility to work from home as well as in the office.
Session Dates: The summer session typically runs from mid-May until mid-August.
Working Hours: Interns are expected to be available during standard working hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am through 5 pm.

Eligibility Requirements (What You’ll Need):
• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting.
• Must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027.
• Must be available to begin full-time work between January 2027 and October 2027.
• A preferred overall GPA of 3.3 (minimum 3.0), or a strong combination of educational success and applicable work/volunteer experience.
Plans to pursue minimum requirements for CPA eligibility.
