Spring 2027 Tax Intern | Cerity Partners

The Tone:
This is a paid, part-time internship at Cerity Partners, a nationally recognized registered investment advisory. • Mission: Contribute to the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns for both individuals and businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance within a nationally recognized registered investment advisory firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Income Tax Preparation: Directly assist in the thorough preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses, utilizing UltraTax CS tax preparation software to ensure accuracy.
• Workpaper Development: Create comprehensive workpapers within Engagement Manager and SurePrep, meticulously detailing the preparation process and effectively communicating the story behind each project.
• Workflow & Document Management: Systematically use FirmFlow for CRM and project management, and GoFileRoom for secure document storage, to maintain precise and current statuses of all ongoing workflows.
• Tax Issue Research: Conduct detailed research and comprehensive analysis on a diverse range of tax issues to support the tax team’s advisory functions.
• Team Support: Execute various other duties and tasks as requested by Tax Advisors and Tax Administrators to support the overall efficiency and operations of the tax department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required, with a major in Finance, Accounting, or a related business degree providing the foundational knowledge for this role.
• Experience: Applicants should demonstrate active participation in campus organizations, with a preference for those who have held leadership roles. Professional work experience is also a valuable qualification.
• Skills: Essential skills include strong collaboration abilities for a team-oriented environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction, a keen and consistent attention to detail for accuracy in tax preparation, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Applications is also required for daily tasks.
