Tax Associate | HHL Advisors Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time, onsite role at HHL Advisors Group, located in Rockville Centre, NY. HHL Advisors Group is a growing boutique CPA firm serving small businesses, emerging middle-market companies, and high-net-worth individuals across New York and nationally. This role is crucial for preparing tax returns, supporting client accounting, and evolving into a client-facing advisory position. • Team: Reports directly to senior staff and the firm’s founding partner.
• Mission: This person will ensure accurate and timely tax preparation and client accounting support while growing into an advisory capacity.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Word, Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, QuickBooks
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare federal and state tax returns for S corporations, partnerships, C corporations, trusts, and individuals using professional software.
• Client Accounting Support: Assist with bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and quarterly payroll tax filings for business clients.
• Client Communication & Coordination: Gather client information, request necessary documents, and provide professional status updates.
• Tax Planning & Research: Support senior team members with tax planning projects and research initiatives.
• Agency Correspondence: Draft responses to IRS and state notices under supervision.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of tax preparation or public accounting experience.
• Skills: Organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working directly with small business owners, and proficient in Excel and Word.
• Bonus: EA, CPA candidate, or a plan to pursue a license; experience with Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, or QuickBooks is a plus. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
