The Tone:
This is a full-time, early career Accountant position at Lochinvar, LLC, operating within A.O. Smith, a global leader in innovative technologies and energy-efficient solutions. A.O. Smith is a leading manufacturer of residential and commercial water heating equipment, boilers, and water treatment products with approximately 12,000 employees worldwide. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of financial records, preparing essential reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies for plant operations.

• Mission: To accurately prepare, examine, and interpret accounting and financial records, reports, and statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Tech Stack: Excel, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, Epicor, NetSuite), SAP (knowledge a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Expense Management: Assemble plant expense analyses and provide regular report updates to staff, while coordinating the accounts payable function for all plant operations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate bank reconciliations for all operating, disbursement, payroll, and investment accounts, in addition to specific monthly journal entries.
• Variance Analysis: Analyze and reconcile discrepancies within general accounting functions, investigating production variances and reporting on utility use and expenditures to senior management.
• Compliance & Auditing: Observe all procedures and policies in accordance with GAAP, company policy, and federal/state regulations, and conduct internal financial and cycle count audits.
• Operational Support: Assist as backup for payroll, daily invoicing, and sales updating, and review purchase orders to provide updates on exceptions and expense levels to the plant manager.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; this is an entry-level position.
• Experience: Internship, co-op, or 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred. Prior experience with ERP systems is also preferred, along with exposure to manufacturing or inventory accounting.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel, including the ability to utilize PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced data analysis techniques.
• Bonus: Knowledge of SAP is considered a plus for this role.
