Tax Associate | H&R Block

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Consultation: Meet with clients to gather necessary information and understand their specific tax situation.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with the benefit of training and support from experienced teammates.
• Client Communication: Explain tax information clearly, provide recommendations, and identify tax savings opportunities in a way clients can easily understand.
• Problem Solving: Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources.
• Team Collaboration: Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an Entry-Level role requiring successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course, which provides foundational tax knowledge, alongside a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background.
• Experience: Prior experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment, showcasing an aptitude for client engagement.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, essential for explaining complex information clearly and asking targeted questions to understand client needs; proven problem-solving abilities, including organizing information and identifying practical solutions; and comfort using digital tools and systems, specifically including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT for efficiency.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; experience in a client-facing or consultative role such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services; a track record of asking pertinent questions and recommending tailored solutions based on customer needs; and the ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods, including evenings and weekends during tax season.
