Tax Accountant – US Group Services | Demant

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Demant, with US Group Services located in Somerset, NJ. Demant is a global group with US operations. This role is critical for ensuring accurate and timely compliance with US state and local tax obligations, including property tax, sales and use tax, and business licensing, thereby mitigating risks and supporting the group’s financial integrity across all US entities.

What You’ll Actually Do
Permit Management: Manage the registration and renewal of sales tax permits and licenses for designated US entities across all jurisdictions.
Property Tax Compliance: Ensure property tax compliance by filing, paying, billing back, and maintaining accurate property information for all entities and locations.
Audit & Notice Resolution: Prepare and provide support for property and sales/use tax audits, and research/resolve tax notices for all US entities.
Sales Tax Reporting Oversight: Collaborate with a third-party provider to review and submit sales and use tax data and filings for an assigned group of entities.
Business & Exemption Certificates: Obtain, distribute, pay, and track business licenses, certificates, and tax resale/exemption certificates for selected entities to ensure compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field is required. This is an early-career role.
• Experience: One to three years’ experience in relevant tax functions.
• Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, advanced formulas); excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy; strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure; proven ability in complex problem solving and use of solid judgment skills; proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Bonus: Prior experience specifically with Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax, and Business Licensing.
