Job Description

Systems Engineering Intern | PlusAI

The Tone:
This is an internship at PlusAI, located in Santa Clara, CA. PlusAI is a Physical AI company that pioneers AI-based virtual driver software for factory-built autonomous trucks, collaborating with partners like TRATON GROUP, Hyundai, and Bosch. This role is crucial for supporting the development of agentic tooling for Systems Engineering applications, contributing to systems-level analysis, requirements derivation, and test plan management to accelerate the deployment of next-generation autonomous trucks. The company seeks talented individuals ready to make a significant impact on the future of autonomy.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Santa Clara, CA
• Pay: $19–$65 hourly
• Team: The Systems and Safety team.
• Mission: This intern will develop agentic tooling for Systems Engineering applications, creating AI chatbot-like interfaces and prototypes to automate key processes like requirements traceability or automated test case generation for autonomous trucks.
• Tech Stack: Python, C++, Linux based tools.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tool Development: Support the creation of Systems Engineering (SE) tools designed for both internal company use and external applications.
• Interface Creation: Develop AI chatbot-like interfaces to enable general database interrogation within Systems Engineering processes.
• Prototype Development: Construct an agentic coding prototype, such as a multi-agent system or a specialized Large Language Model (LLM) tool, aimed at rebuilding and automating a high-impact SE process step, including requirements traceability, automated test case generation from requirements, or validation documentation.
• Process Documentation: Document the methodology and workflow of the proposed ‘rebuilt’ Systems Engineering process that leverages the developed agentic prototype.
• Technical Specification: Provide a detailed technical specification outlining the architectural design and implementation considerations necessary for scaling the agentic prototype.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively enrolled in a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Engineering field of study.
• Experience: Previous experience or research related to Autonomous Driving, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), or Robotics.
• Skills: Proficiency in Python and C++, including strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 or SOTIF, experience with vehicle level control software for powertrain, battery, or chassis, and knowledge of vehicle communication networks/protocols.
