The Tone:
This is a full-time role at ING, located in Brussels, Belgium. ING strategically prioritizes sustainability, aiming to shift its mainstream portfolio towards sustainable practices and integrate these into all client relations and transactions. This role is crucial for supporting ING’s Wholesale Banking sustainability ambitions by developing creative financial solutions for companies transitioning to a sustainable future. It contributes to both profitable business opportunities for ING and a more sustainable global economy.

• Team: Sustainable Solutions Group Brussels team, collaborating with the regional lead.
• Mission: Drive the sustainable business by providing expert sustainable financing solutions and advisory to Wholesale Banking clients in the Belux / Nordics region.

What You’ll Actually Do
• ESG Analysis: Conduct in-depth ESG profile analyses on Wholesale Banking clients through research, with a focus on their sustainability strategy and performance.
• Deal Origination & Execution: Drive the origination and execution of sustainable deals across all Wholesale Banking products, adhering to ING’s standards and managing the deal process from client interaction to successful signing.
• Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to corporate clients by combining deep knowledge of financing structures, treasury considerations, and balance sheet strategy with sustainability expertise.
• Solution Structuring: Structure innovative financing and advisory solutions with relevant sector and advisory teams, translating ESG market dynamics and regulatory developments into strategies that support clients’ transition pathways.
• Data & Profiling: Maintain robust data quality by populating internal databases and tracking market developments, and support the regional lead in preparing internal and external profiling for ING’s sustainable business initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master degree holder in Business / Finance or other relevant disciplines, with professional experience in ESG / Sustainability related content.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial experience, including active client-facing front-office roles. This experience should ideally encompass financial transactions such as structured finance, debt capital markets, credit analysis, and/or deal structuring.
• Skills: Client-focused approach, strong communication and presentation skills to bridge sustainability, finance, and treasury disciplines; analytical and creative mindset; entrepreneurial spirit to drive business growth; product-agnostic approach when servicing clients; ability to mobilize the organization in a collaborative spirit.
• Bonus: Experience with sustainability-related transactions; a sustainability related academic background is a positive; a good network with external stakeholders regarding sustainable developments.
