Description (Internship):
Signal Theory offers a 10-week summer internship program. Interns work in the office (Kansas City or Wichita) three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) alongside a mentor. Several areas of opportunity exist:
• Account Management: This internship focuses on the client-facing side of advertising. Responsibilities include developing client presentations, attending client meetings, collaborating on research and insight development, and creating briefs. Ideal candidates are marketing or advertising majors with strong time management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills; a positive attitude; endless curiosity; and a self-starting mindset.
• Brand Strategy: This internship is geared towards strategic communications majors interested in consumer research and the underlying reasons for consumer behavior. Responsibilities include conducting research, participating in brainstorming sessions, helping write creative briefs, and collaborating with the strategy team to provide strategic insights to internal colleagues and clients. Ideal candidates are analytical thinkers with strong communication and interpersonal skills, intense curiosity, engaging storytelling abilities, and a willingness to tackle challenges.
• Copywriting: This internship is for those who love words and possess a portfolio showcasing compelling copy and critical thinking. Responsibilities range from writing Instagram captions to developing large-scale campaign ideas.
• Design/Art Direction: This internship is for graphic design majors with a strong portfolio demonstrating a good sense of design and typography, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Interns will work with client teams under the direction of senior art directors on various client and internal agency projects.
• Public Relations: The public relations intern will support the public relations team’s objectives and goals for various clients. Responsibilities include content and marketing writing, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure online messaging aligns with communication strategy. Ideal candidates love writing, are detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and can effectively multitask and meet deadlines.
• Social Media and Content Strategy: This internship is for those interested in social media and digital marketing, keeping up with current trends. Responsibilities include researching, monitoring, and reporting on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), collaborating on marketing tactics, educating colleagues on content strategy trends, creating and managing content calendars, developing communication and content strategies, and presenting strategies to clients.
• Project Management: This internship is for organized, detail-oriented individuals who enjoy teamwork but may not prefer direct client interaction. Interns will work closely with experienced project managers, gaining experience in planning, executing, and monitoring projects.
